The NSCC Entrepreneurship team helps students and new graduates launch or grow their businesses through hands-on experiences, resources and mentorship. Our programs foster an entrepreneurial mindset, boosting employability and driving local innovation. Financial assistance programs are available, with applications open at specific times of the year. We also run College-wide challenges and contests to support students in starting new ventures, expanding existing ones or turning hobbies into sustainable businesses. See supports below.

Financial support

Entrepreneur-in-the-Making Funding up to $3,000 is available for NSCC students and recent alumni (Class of 2019 to present) to start or expand businesses across Nova Scotia. Read how Sydney used EITM funding to expand her business
EITM Growth Grant Provides $3,000 in funding to NSCC students and alumni who are at least one year out of EITM program and are continuing to grow their business. Recipients also gain access to business advisory sessions and mentorship.
EITM Black and African Nova Scotian Cohort In partnership with Blk Women in Excellence, the EITM Black and African Nova Scotian Cohort provides funding to support Black and African female entrepreneurs, offering opportunities to learn entrepreneurial skills and receive up to $3,000.

Activities and events

Challenge Nova Scotia (login required) A province-wide competition for NSCC students to solve social issues in Nova Scotia. Teams of 3-5 create 90-second videos based on a challenge revealed by the Premier and NSCC President. Top solutions earn cash prizes. The 2024 Challenge is scheduled for November 22.
Enactus A network of leaders empowering students to build businesses that drive social and environmental change. Offers a unique experience, where passionate students collaborate to bring their innovative ideas to life for a better world. Read about NSCC Pictou's award-winning Enactus project

Business advisory sessions Free one-on-one business counselling for NSCC students looking to start or grow a business, providing guidance on business plans, marketing, HR, regulations and financing.
Community connections Get help to access a large network of entrepreneurial service providers and community resources and find relevant supports available across the province.
