Testing with us
Whether you're a current NSCC student or an external student, there are some things to keep in mind when testing at our testing centres.
Writing your test at NSCC
Bring identification
You'll need to sign in with a Photo ID to complete your registration before taking your test/exam.
- NSCC students must provide their NSCC Student ID.
- If you’re writing the Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) test, you’ll need to present two (2) non-expired forms of identification. The primary form of ID must be government-issued. Review the CAEC Testing Process for details of acceptable forms of ID.
- If you're writing an exam for an external institution or organization, you will need to provide your receipt for payment of testing fees along with a government or NSCC ID.
Arrive early
We recommend coming 15 – 30 minutes before your test to give yourself time to register and store your belongings. Waiting areas and lockers are available.
For CAEC tests, candidates are required to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the test.
Supplies and materials
Be sure to bring any materials you'll need to write your test. You'll be required to leave all materials not required for the test, including personal belongings such as cell phones or electronic devices, outside the testing room. Lockers are provided so you can store your belongings safely.
If you’re writing the CAEC test, all materials will be provided by the testing centre
Academic integrity
All testers must agree to follow NSCC's policy on academic integrity which prohibits behaviour such as cheating, plagiarism, impersonation and providing false information to faculty.
If you're writing a test for an external institution or organization, you'll also need to follow all rules and regulations outlined in the exam instructions that accompany your test.
Call to reschedule or cancel
If you're unable to make a scheduled appointment, call the Testing Centre directly to tell them that you will not be writing as scheduled.
If you cannot make it to your CAEC test, log into your CAEC account to cancel or reschedule your test session.
Make sure we're open
Sometimes campuses close due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, which impacts our ability to deliver testing. While we'll try to contact testers about closures when possible, we encourage you to check our closures page, especially during the winter months, before coming to campus.
