- Purpose
- It is NSCC’s goal to ensure a safe, secure, and healthy learning and work environment while students and employees are traveling internationally on NSCC learning opportunities and business.
- The purpose of this policy is to provide standards for risk management of international travel for NSCC employees and students.

- The policy applies to all employees and students who are traveling internationally on NSCC sanctioned activities

Planning for international travel must begin early in order to ensure that it takes place in an efficient, effective, and safe manner. - Employee Travel Preauthorization and Expense Reimbursement
Employees must receive pre-authorization to travel prior to incurring any travel-related expenses. Following travel, expenses must be submitted as per NSCC’s Travel and Reimbursement Policy. - Student Travel Costs
Generally, students will be responsible for all travel and related costs associated with the activity. Students may apply to NSCC International for a travel bursary for financial aid to support their NSCC sanctioned travel activity. - International Travel Risk Management
- NSCC uses The Government of Canada travel advisories as the official source of international travel advice and information. NSCC students and employees are not permitted international travel to destinations that are assigned risk level 3 or 4 according to Government of Canada travel advisories.
- NSCC employees participating in NSCC sanctioned international travel must complete the international travel risk management preparation and documentation steps outlined in the NSCC International Travel Procedures
- Students and employees participating in NSCC international learning programs must complete international travel risk management preparation and documentation steps outlined in the NSCC International Travel Procedures.
- Fitness for travel: individuals are responsible to:
- Ensure they are physically and mentally prepared for international travel.
- Familiarize themselves with possible health risks associated with the activity and travel destination, and
- Take preventative measures including recommended vaccinations and medications.
- Follow the requirements outlined in the NSCC International Travel Procedures.
