NSCC celebrates over 4,000 graduates across province

Halifax, N.S. -- Over 4,000 students will graduate from Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) during 21 convocation ceremonies taking place across the province from June 3 to 14, 2024.

All ceremonies will be live-streamed at nscc.ca/convocation and will also be available on YouTube in the days following the event.

“As a College community, we couldn’t be more excited to think of the incredible potential within the more than 4,000 graduates crossing the stage through our many ceremonies this year,” says NSCC President Don Bureaux. “What a tremendous impact they are going to make in their sector, in their community and beyond.”

In addition to the awarding of credentials, 23 students will be honoured as valedictorians. A full list of names and profiles for each valedictorian can be found at nscc.ca/convocation.

Five outstanding Nova Scotians will also be presented with honorary diplomas — the highest form of recognition presented by NSCC. Recipients are chosen based on their contributions to the community and the College.

The 2024 honorary diploma recipients are:

  • Krista Langille | Red seal welder, Irving Shipbuilding
    School of Trades and Transportation, Akerley Campus, June 14, 2 pm
  • Mike Johnston | President and CEO, REDspace
    School of Technology and Environment, IT Campus, June 11, 10 am
  • Sandra McKenzie | Co-founder, Forge Institute
    School of Access, Education and Language, Ivany Campus, June 13, 2 pm
  • Virginia ‘Ginny’ Smith | Educator, Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame inductee
    School of Health and Human Services, Burridge Campus, June 4, 5 pm
