NSCC students to take on tenth annual Challenge Nova Scotia competition

Nov. 20, 2024 – Media Release

Halifax, N.S. - This Friday, nearly 350 students from Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) will gather for the tenth annual Challenge Nova Scotia competition. The province-wide competition invites students to develop innovative solutions to a pressing social issue, delivered to them by NSCC President, Don Bureaux.

The event kicks off with a video message, unveiling this year’s secret challenge question. Students organized into teams of three to five will then have 12 hours to develop and share their solutions with a 90-second explainer video.

“In the 10 years since Challenge Nova Scotia launched, students have consistently risen to the occasion with innovative, forward-thinking ideas,” says NSCC President Don Bureaux. “Each year, I’m inspired by our student’s entrepreneurial spirits and perspectives on challenges we face as a province.”

Following the event, the explainer videos will be reviewed by a panel of judges made up of NSCC’s industry and community partners. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams and the winning ideas will be shared with the Premier.

Event: Challenge Nova Scotia
Date: Friday, November 22, 2024 (8:30 am to 9 pm)
Location: At all NSCC campuses
