Who are we looking for?

Natural Forces is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Wind Technologist or Wind Engineer. This is a full- time position based at our head office in downtown Halifax that will require occasional travel within Canada. The primary responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Support the development of various renewable energy projects across Canada
  • Manage the installation and maintenance of wind monitoring equipment on project sites
  • Monitor and maintain measured wind data

Key Tasks and Duties

Coordination and Logistics

  • Identify appropriate locations on project sites for the installation of wind monitoring equipment and conduct site visits to verify the locations
  • Obtain the necessary permits to install wind monitoring equipment in various jurisdictions
  • Manage the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of wind measurement equipment
  • Liaise with landowners in the management of wind measurement equipment on their lands
  • Procure, setup, and manage remote power supply systems
  • Set up and monitor remote communications for wind monitoring equipment

Data Monitoring, Analysis, and Procurement

  • Manage the storage and quality control of wind data
  • Troubleshoot, remotely and in the field, any issues with wind monitoring and power supply equipment and data
  • Prepare the wind data required for consultants to conduct wind resource assessments

Other Duties

  • Continuous research on industry best practice and emerging technology in wind measurement and assessment
  • Understand and keep up to date with all offerings from industry leading consultants and equipment vendors

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in instrumentation, engineering or related field
  • 2 years relevant experience specifically having acquired data management skills and experience with data systems

Skill and Ability Requirements

  • Highly organized and independent
  • Confident working in the field during all seasons
  • Confident troubleshooting instrumentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving skills
