What is the opportunity?

As a member of the Business Development Team, the Technical BDM Co-op will coordinate technical inputs, calculation data, and application requirements for identified energy projects in the Industrial and Commercial sectors. This position will require working closely with Business Development, Clients, and the Programs Team, and requires strong STEM capabilities to sufficiently understand and effectively work with the ever-developing technology and highly variable measure types that are involved. Suppose you are motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong ability to work gainfully with people. A snapshot of what you will be involved with:

  • Work with Business Development to advance identified energy efficiency projects
  • Operate and optimize tracking of efficiency opportunities and projects in the Central Information System (CIS)
  • Source, manage, and report on technical information and inputs for advancing opportunities into projects
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation flow for the advancement of opportunities and projects
  • Provide input for improving practices within the role
  • Other related duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Good understanding of the fundamentals of energy-based engineering projects
  • Ability to work with new and emerging technologies
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Strong analytical and superior time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communicating effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Understanding of project financial analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, takes initiative
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience working with Salesforce would be considered an asset

Education Qualifications:

  • Working towards a bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering/engineering technology

Co-op Position Eligibility Criteria: 

To be considered for this co-op position, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  1. Enrollment Status: Must be a current NSCC student in good academic standing and returning to your program for classes in the Fall. Graduating students are not eligible for co-op 
  1. Academic Continuity:?Must be returning to your current program for full-time study in the Fall Term. 
  1. Program Requirement:?Must be enrolled in an eligible program that has a co-op course. See eligible programs here: https://www.nscc.ca/programs-and-courses/learning-experience/hands-on-learning/work-experience/co-op-programs.asp 
  1. International Students Permit Requirement: International students must possess a valid co-op work permit from the Government of Canada with no restrictions that would prevent them from engaging in the described co-op work. 
  1. Tuition Requirement: The co-op course is an elective first-year course in your program that occurs in the Spring/Summer semester. There is a tuition fee for this course. 
  1. Approval Requirement: All co-op experiences must be approved by your faculty or Academic Chair and sent to workexperience@nscc.ca?in order to receive credit towards your NSCC credential. Please check in with your Faculty Advisor before accepting any job offer.
