The opportunity:

The Efficiency Specialist Co-op, HomeWarming, will work with our Specialist team to serve as a point person for our Delivery Agents and program participants, reporting on technical data along with updating key program processes and forms. This multi-faceted position includes leading a variety of tasks using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in support of report preparation, and data management. A high degree of attention to detail is required for this position.

As part of the HomeWarming team you will be helping low income Nova Scotians achieve energy savings, combat energy poverty, and be more comfortable in their homes by performing the following tasks:

  • Assisting in the review and approval of upgrades for participant homes
  • Participating in regular meetings with Delivery Agents
  • Attending outreach events and meetings
  • Provide support in Delivery Agent and client issue resolution
  • Documenting program processes and procedures
  • Assisting in tasks such as creating projects, sending leads, and invoicing as necessary

Qualifications

Education Qualification:

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree or diploma in environmental science/management, sustainability, policy, building science, or a related field of education

  • Experience with and proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications (including Teams)
  • Ability to take on new opportunities and challenges, with a passion to continue to develop and grow
  • The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and have
  • The ideal candidate should have the ability to prioritize deliverables and work independently or within a team

Co-op Position Eligibility Criteria: 

To be considered for this co-op position, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  1. Enrollment Status: Must be a current NSCC student in good academic standing and returning to your program for classes in the Fall. Graduating students are not eligible for co-op 
  1. Academic Continuity: Must be returning to your current program for full-time study in the Fall Term. 
  1. Program Requirement: Must be enrolled in an eligible program that has a co-op course. See eligible programs here: https://www.nscc.ca/programs-and-courses/learning-experience/hands-on-learning/work-experience/co-op-programs.asp 
  1. International Students Permit Requirement: International students must possess a valid co-op work permit from the Government of Canada with no restrictions that would prevent them from engaging in the described co-op work. 
  1. Tuition Requirement: The co-op course is an elective first-year course in your program that occurs in the Spring/Summer semester. There is a tuition fee for this course. 
  1. Approval Requirement: All co-op experiences must be approved by your faculty or Academic Chair and sent to workexperience@nscc.ca in order to receive credit towards your NSCC credential. Please check in with your Faculty Advisor before accepting any job offer.
