On a regular basis perform:
With accuracy and attention to source documents, and following generally accepted accounting principles, prepare basic accounting records, financial statements and tax returns.
Using strong analytical and communication skills provide assistance to senior staff with assurance engagements (compilations, reviews, audits, etc.)
Using strong organizational and analytical skills, carry out engagement planning, including analytical review of accounting records, restoring of accounting software and checking for errors.
Using excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, provide support to senior staff as requested for client special engagements as needed (schedules, charts, etc.)
With attention to detail, and according to general accepted office procedures, accurately keep a log of client accounting issues, assurance procedure findings, scanning of documents, and lockdown of client files when completed.
With care taken, staff accountants with requisite experience may visit client sites and have the ability to enjoy a hybrid work environment.
Nova Scotia Community College diploma or University degree in commerce or business administration, with a concentration in accounting
Working knowledge of accounting software (Sage, Quickbooks, and Xero) with the ability to pull reports required (trial balance, general ledger details, etc.)
Experience in an office setting preferred, but not required
