About the Position

Breton Print is a full-service print shop located in North Sydney, NS. Our clients include major public institutions, small and large private businesses, and the island’s creative arts community. We’re a friendly, supportive bunch, always in motion, with high expectations. Working hours are Tuesday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Office Administrator (OA) core duties include the daily processing of accounts payable/receivable transactions, collections, imputing print orders, as well as managing correspondence with suppliers and clients. This role also directly interacts with walk-in customers. When customer traffic is heavy, the OA assists with small office printer jobs. 

Compensation:

Breton Print indexes employee starting wage to the living wage set by the Centre for Policy Alternatives. At the time of this job posting, a living wage for Cape Breton is $22.85/hr. Compensation also includes three weeks paid vacation and paid lunch and break times.

Qualifications

The ideal skill-set we are looking for includes: 

Organizational skills:

  • Ability to stay organized to maintain a clear picture of what tasks need completing over varying time frames, e.g., day, week or month;
  • Ability to switch comfortably between OA core responsibilities and front-end customer service tasks;
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills - ability to identify, analyze and decide on a course of action;
  • Ask questions when necessary and communicate challenges to colleagues in a timely manner;
  • Dependably on-time. 

Customer service skills:     

  • Actively listen to customers and respond in a polite and timely manner;
  • Quickly develop knowledge of Breton Print products;
  • Proven, all-round strong spoken and written communication skills. 

Required technical skills:

  • Accounting software (Xero preferred)
  • POS (Poynt preferred)
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Adobe Acrobat 

Familiarity with the following is an asset:

  • Print industry and print management software
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design concepts 

Other assets:

  • WHMIS
  • HR policy and regulations for office and shop environments
  • Eligibility for Nova Scotia's START or Graduate to Opportunity wage incentive programs

Required education/work experience:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration (finance or accounting concentration preferred)
  • 2+ years retail experience
