Course overview

Quality has become the differentiating factor in many global competitive markets, and this is especially true in industries such as defence, marine, and aerospace manufacturing. This course will introduce the competitive environment in which modern shipbuilding has emerged and the imperative for a focus on quality management for Nova Scotia and for the nation. Beginning with an overview of the history and culture of shipbuilding in Nova Scotia, the course will delve into basic quality concepts and gradually explore specific marine manufacturing implementation, ending with selected case studies and/or projects in business or technical areas, allowing learners to observe and participate in simulations of quality management procedures in an area of their own choosing.

Condition: Course will be offered to employees of Irving Shipyard and as an elective to selected programs at NSCC

Please Note: this credit course may be part of a credential program offered by NSCC. While a course may not have an admission requirement, all NSCC programs have admission requirements. For more information on programs and admissions, please visit Admission Requirements.
