Course overview
Configuration and Information Management (CIM) describes a set of quality controls, techniques, and processes that are used in projects to identify, track, store, and control change to critical project deliverables, design artifacts, and project documentation. This course is an introduction to this vital project delivery support function and will explore CIM as used in manufacturing industries like construction, aerospace, and shipbuilding. Beginning with a view of how this function fits within a complex matrix organization, learners will be introduced to and participate in case studies and exercises that illustrate the key aspects of the subject – planning and requirements, identification of configuration items, change management, status reporting, verification and audit, and the data and documentation that surrounds that work.
Pre-requisite: High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
Please Note: this credit course may be part of a credential program offered by NSCC. While a course may not have an admission requirement, all NSCC programs have admission requirements. For more information on programs and admissions, please visit Admission Requirements.
