Course overview
The course will provide an introduction to the work of planning and scheduling managers in a manufacturing environment. In large-scale building and manufacturing projects, production planning and scheduling (PP&S) is a continuous set of activities that stretch from contract approval right through to delivery of the final product. The work of planners/schedulers involves planning and monitoring the work throughout the project, resolving engineering and project operational issues, coordinating engineering and production activity, and continuously tracking and documenting project progress. Previous exposure to project management basics or administrative experience in a complex production environment will be beneficial to provide a foundation to the course's more in-depth case studies and simulations. However, for those less experienced in professional project management, the course includes an introduction to fundamental project management processes and knowledge areas before advancing to specific functions and examples of the application of professional project planning and scheduling techniques in manufacturing environments.
Pre-requisite: High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
