Horizon Health Network is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to join our team in Fredericton!

Horizon Health Network is actively recruiting an Industrial Mechanic to join our Adaptive Seating team at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation in Fredericton. This is a permanent, full-time position.

 

What you will do

As an Industrial Mechanic on the Adaptive Seating team, you are responsible for the fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting, repairs, and customizing of specialized seating and mobility devices to meet the needs of children and adults with physical disabilities. The most common equipment used by our clients will be manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, specialty power chair controls, adapted strollers, cushions, and back supports.

You will use your technical skills to match seating and mobility products to clients’ needs and goals (for increased independence, comfort, and mobility). You will assist as required for transfers and assessments. Your primary work site is the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation in Fredericton, but some travel throughout New Brunswick is expected. 

Specific duties include:

• Welding, machining, installing, assembling, and maintenance of seating and mobility components.

• Performing searches for cost-effective products and materials for use in fabrication and customization of seating and mobility devices.

• Maintaining client records and documentation. 

• Organizing and coordinating work, shop tools, and equipment.

• Monitoring and maintaining workshop inventory.

• Performing other duties as assigned.

 

Who you are

You hold a Certificate of Qualification and/or Red Seal designation as an Industrial Mechanic, or you are eligible to receive this certification within the next 12 months. 

You have a minimum of three years experience fabricating and customizing various equipment. Experience working with specialized seating and mobility devices and in sewing/upholstering seat cushions would be considered an asset.

You have a valid driver’s license. You have written and spoken competence in English. Spoken competence in French would be considered an asset.
