Casual Hair Dresser

About the Position

• Responsible for providing own tools and equipment
• Be covered under the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) and provide proof of such insurance
• Industry licence is to be kept up to date and displayed in salon. All fees associated with licence renewal is the responsibility of the Hairdresser
• Booking resident appointments according to admission papers
• Ensure tools and equipment are stored in a safe manner at all times 
• Report any Maintenance issues to Support Services Manager
• Maintain a safe and welcoming environment at all times, for residents and staff
• Maintain salon cleanliness according to industry guidelines
• With appropriate training: assist, support, and guide residents to and from hair salon
• Maintain safe work practices and follow Occupational Health and Safety guidelines
• Work as part of a team to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of hairdressing services

Qualifications

• Member in good standing with the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia   
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to complete physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods of time.
• Experience working with the elderly an asset
• Current WHIMIS training (or willing to obtain)
• Cosmetology Association Infection Prevention and Control Fundamental Education (or willing to obtain)
