Today, July 22, NSCC is pleased to officially open two new student housing facilities at our Akerley and Pictou campuses. The two units add 50 new living spaces in Stellarton and 100 in Dartmouth for students studying at NSCC. Both facilities will welcome students home in September 2024.

Thanks to an investment from the province, these new facilities will help to address the growing need for student accommodation in Nova Scotia and in turn, will help alleviate pressure on the local housing inventory. By opening the doors to two new campus facilities – we open the doors to a bright new start for those that might not have been able to attend without these modern, affordable and accessible spaces.

“The College is so excited to open two new housing facilities adjacent to our Akerley and Pictou campuses which will welcome 150 of our learners to a safe, accessible and welcoming place to live while studying,” says NSCC President Don Bureaux. “Thanks to significant investments by the province, these resources will make a positive contribution to both our students and to the housing inventory in these two communities.”

In addition to these spaces, the College has existing campus housing buildings located at our Annapolis Valley – Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS), Strait Area and Truro campuses.

More student housing underway

As part of this investment, a third housing facility is scheduled to welcome another 200 students at Ivany Campus in Dartmouth in fall 2025.

Supported through an additional provincial investment announced last fall, planning for 4 more housing facilities for Cumberland, IT, Kingstec and Lunenburg Campuses is underway. Once built, the College will have 811 spaces for students to live in while studying at NSCC. For the latest construction updates on our student housing buildings, visit nscc.ca/constructionupdates.
