Accessibility and considerations
If you're a student with a disability and have been diagnosed with physical, mental or chronic health illness, or a learning challenge and need to access housing accommodations to remove barriers to living well, we can help. We work collaboratively with students and staff to do our best to meet the needs of students.
Please be advised that only requests that fall under Nova Scotia's Accessibility Act or the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act will be considered and professional verification may be required
Accessibility by campus
Our campus housing buildings vary in accessibility options, and barriers to an accessible stay. Common questions we receive are about:
- Physical barriers
- Scent and perfumes
- Noise volumes
- Lighting
If you have questions related to your accessibility needs and support to live on campus, we encourage you to contact your Campus Housing Coordinator.
Accessibility in room assignments
When applying for campus housing you will be asked if you would like to submit a request for consideration. A request for consideration is an additional submission that pairs with your campus housing application. It helps us identify your needs and barriers so that we can better support you.
