Your learning journey starts as soon as your seat has been confirmed. Use the outline below to guide you as you prepare for your program.
Once your seat has been confirmed
- View important dates and deadlines through our academic calendar.
- Arrange for accessibility supports through Accessibility Services.
- Understand your NSCC student health benefits.
- Know about tuition and fees, and plan how to pay for college.
- Sign up for student awards, scholarships and bursaries.
- Protect yourself against preventable diseases by reviewing your immunizations.
- Make sure to secure housing before your program begins.
1 to 2 months before your program starts
- Get familiar with Brightspace – an online learning system you’ll use in your program.
- Learn how to learn through College 101, an online reading resource.
- Attend a Get Started info session to learn more about what to expect in your program.
- Familiarize yourself with tools and technology you’ll access frequently in your program.
- Review your Student Advising Handbook.
- Learn about the mywellnessplan.
- Plan your commute to campus.
- Manage your NSCC password.
1 to 2 weeks before your program starts
- Learn how to care for your health and wellness (intranet log-in required).
- Review your course materials and book lists.
- Get your student ID (intranet log-in required).
- Manage your personal information through MyNSCC.
- Learn how to access and check your NSCC email – be sure to read your bi-weekly Keep Connected student newsletter.
- Complete your NSCC and Me non-credit, self-directed, online orientation course.
- View your class schedule (intranet log-in required).
- Complete your mandatory safety courses (intranet log-in required).
- Get involved with your Student Association.
- Attend New Student Orientation – you’ll receive details from your campus by email.
