Giving back for Giving Tuesday
Supporting each other
On November 30, 2021, NSCC’s community rallied together for Giving Tuesday 2021, raising a total of $12,150 for NSCC’s 25th Anniversary Appeal, in support of the Rapid Response Fund, along with $7,000 raised for Urgent Aid.
- NSCC employees contributed $3,500 for Urgent Aid, which was generously matched by the J.W. Murphy Foundation
- NSCC alumni donated $7,150 to the 25th Anniversary Appeal, which received a $5,000 match from NSCC's Alumni Relations department
NSCC employees, alumni and partners are making an incredible impact on the lives of NSCC students through their generosity. Dale Stevens, Owner of Clerisy Entertainment, is one of those donors who was so inspired by his work with NSCC grads.
Clerisy Entertainment has benefitted greatly over the years from NSCC graduates. It’s challenging to be a student today, with food and housing prices so high, and I became aware that some students are having to make difficult financial choices on tight budgets. It’s not a situation I would have ever imagined, and I wanted to give back.
Breaking barriers to education
Students can face many financial barriers while pursuing their education, including food insecurity, access to technology, transportation, accessible housing, childcare or other identified needs. The dollars raised for Rapid Response and Urgent Aid will help students at each of NSCC’s 14 campuses across the province, providing the support needed to allow students to focus on their education and pursue their career dreams.
This support will allow me to focus more on my studies and my daughter and less on the immediate financial worry I currently have. It’s a struggle that I know will only be lived short term as once I graduate in the coming months, I will be better able to fully support myself and my daughter. All of this is so greatly appreciated. I will now be able to study more, eat more and enjoy time with my daughter more.
How to help
For many, Urgent Aid is necessary to pay for their essential needs. Paying for food to put on the table, household bills, medications or emergency needs can be difficult while going to school.
Every gift in support of Urgent Aid makes an impact. If you haven’t had a chance to contribute to NSCC’s 25th Anniversary Appeal, it isn’t too late. Click here to join the effort and make a meaningful impact by making a donation today!
