Planting seeds for success

As the snow melts and the grass grows greener, we’re proud to update you on how your generosity is creating new opportunities for NSCC students.

This spring, we share exciting community stories that show legacies inspiring NSCC musicians, employer sponsorships preparing students for the workforce, awards honouring Black and African Nova Scotian community leaders, unique student learning opportunities and award recipients paving their way to success. We also highlight NSCC Foundation’s newest member of the Board of Directors.

Hughie Langin
Cliff Langin helps his brother’s musical legacy live on at NSCC: Hughie Langin Hughie Langin was loved by many. His natural talent for music turned his life around, making him a staple in Halifax's music community. Today, his brother Cliff and his family keep Hughie's musical spirit alive at NSCC.

New student awards named in honour of Black and African Nova Scotian community leaders NSCC and its Black African Nova Scotian Employee Resource Network (BAERN) recognize the community impact and contributions of four new community leaders by launching four student awards named in their honour.

From classroom to the land and sea: NSCC ASL students take over the Halifax Harbour Hopper NSCC's American Sign Language (ASL)/English Interpretation Program (AEIP) took over the Halifax Harbour Hopper for a unique learning opportunity that applied classroom learning to the land and sea.

Meet the Board: Sharon Beasley, from banker to baker to CFO NSCC Foundation Board Director Sharon Beasley's career has taken her in many directions. From banking in Toronto to opening a baking business to being a CFO, her passion for helping others remained constant.

Building a new life, in a new country, in a male-dominated career: Julliane Corrêa As an architect from southern Brazil, NSCC Construction Management student Julliane Corrêa is building her own path to success in a male-dominated field, receiving six student awards.
