Cyber Security enthusiast gets a career head start with Sponsor-a-Student

Hannah N. has had an interest in technology from a young age. Throughout high school, she found that her fascination with computers was only matched by her growing interest in the law. This set her on a career path that would combine the two, finding that balance in the NSCC Cyber Security Program.
When she started the program, Hannah had to juggle working part-time to pay for tuition and being in a full-time program. She applied to Sponsor-a-Student through the NSCC Student Awards program, and she was selected for the opportunity by Surrogate Technology Management.
Thanks to the sponsorship, Hannah completed her work term with the company while receiving the much-needed financial support to ease the burden of tuition.
For Surrogate Technology Management, supporting the next generation of IT professionals is crucial to growing the IT industry. “Our strong ties with the community greatly benefit our business growth,” said Emma Dobson, a representative of Surrogate Technology Management. “We worked with NSCC to determine how we could support the industry via post-secondary IT education/training. Our goal was to provide this experience as well as to ensure that the student placed with us had an opportunity to work in areas of particular interest to them.”
Hannah was able to improve her skills while gaining hands-on experience in a professional work environment. “I would like to thank the sponsor wholeheartedly, not only for giving me the opportunity to get a head start in my career, but making this sponsorship a possibility,” said Hannah.
