Inspiring and supporting women

On April 25 at NSCC’s Institute of Technology Campus, Admiral announced a generous three-year commitment to support the Women Unlimited (WU) program at NSCC. Through the commitment, the Admiral Women Unlimited Bursary and the Women Unlimited Urgent Aid Fund have been established to support educational costs, cost of living expenses and emergency financial support to WU participants and women in Trades and Technology (T&T) programs at the College.

The wrap-around supports for women participating or graduated from WU is essential to removing barriers for women looking to pursue a career in the T&T field.

“We’re so excited to partner with Women Unlimited to support more women and gender-diverse people to build fulfilling and sustainable careers in the T&T field,’ said Rebecca Cable, Admiral Canada Site Director. “Removing financial barriers can have an enormous effect on completing your education, so we’re proud to support the excellent work that Women Unlimited do. We can’t wait to see how this impacts the community's growth.”

About Women Unlimited

Operating out of NSCC Campuses in Sydney, Halifax and Dartmouth, WU helps diverse, unemployed and underemployed women explore careers in trades and technology through a 14-week career exploration program. After graduating, students are assisted in applying to NSCC T&T programs of their interest by WU staff, followed by job application support after finishing their program.

The program inspires and guides 125 women annually through its innovative programming, and thanks to the support of Admiral, more women will receive the support they need to take on this journey.

“Admiral’s commitment will have an incredible impact on WU participants,” said Vivian Dixon, Program Director, Women Unlimited. “Access to bursaries and emergency financial support for women entering the trades and technology field is critical to removing the barriers they face in pursuit of their careers. We appreciate their support and look forward to the change it’ll bring.”
