SAGE-07 Thematic Partnership in Eco-tourism
Project/Initiative
The Skills to Access the Green Economy (SAGE) is a regional program supported by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Colleges and Institutes Canada. The ultimate outcome of SAGE is to enhance the skills level of the local labour force leading to meaningful employment in key economic sectors associated with climate change in Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica and St. Lucia. Due to the rapidly growing tourism sector, there is a need to improve specific labor skills in eco-tourism.
The purpose of the SAGE-07 Eco-tourism Thematic Partnership is to work with designated Caribbean partners in the above countries to develop six short courses that can also be offered as micro credential for tourism students as well as for professional in this sector. Graduates from the micro-credential courses will be equipped with skills that meet employer needs and contribute to successful local economies.
