Rina Manning's Story
I recently had the opportunity to take part in the NSCC Business-Tourism International Learning Expedition to Greece, and it was truly a surreal experience. Before this opportunity, I had never been to Europe, or another continent. I was equipped with knowledge and tips about travelling abroad through the International Education Pre-Departure course and at the conference held on April 19th. I had the amazing experience of visiting Athens and Santorini, where I took part in different activities like a “hop on, hop off” bus tour, catamaran tour, and toured around the villages of Fira, Oia, and Kamari, etc.
It is difficult to put into words how incredible it was to see these sites in real life, such as the iconic three churches in Oia, the Acropolis and Parthenon, and just all of the beautiful scenery. This experience has taught me how to be more independent, adapt to change, act and dress professional in foreign settings, and how to communicate with people in a foreign country. These skills will be very beneficial when travelling to any new place and will help prepare me for new experiences.
