Giving Tuesday 2024: Fighting student food insecurity, together.

A community that cares
With a community of support like ours, we’re always amazed with your ability to step up when students are facing immediate need. On December 3, the J & W Murphy Foundation joined us and post-secondaries across the province on Giving Tuesday to fight student food insecurity, marking the fourth year of this incredible partnership. They generously matched up to $11,000 in donations to NSCC’s Rapid Response Fund, which supports cost of living bursaries and food security initiatives for students across the province.
Your dedication to supporting NSCC students this Giving Tuesday and throughout the fall raised $15,136, coming to a grand total of $26,136 with the J & W Murphy Foundation’s matching gift.
Giving to NSCC Rapid Response
"This cost of living bursary will take some of the financial pressure off my family and I, allowing me to focus on my studies rather than stress about finances. It will help with the cost of groceries and energy; it means so much to me and will allow me to continue achieving academically,” said an Emergency Cost of Living Bursary recipient, in response to receiving the Rapid Response funded bursary.
When you give to Rapid Response, you help address the immediate and unplanned needs of NSCC students, and they are feeling the financial pressure more than ever. But through your support on Giving Tuesday and every other day of the year, students are continuing to access relief from this pressure to focus on their education. In our 2023-2024 Annual Report on Giving, we reported over $677,000 disbursed in cost of living supports to students, made possible by donors like you.
Endless gratitude
The impact you’re making is felt with endless gratitude by students, families and communities across the province. Thank you for joining us again this year to show your support and make a difference.
