Monthly eNews: October 2022
October Updates
This has been an extremely challenging month for our province in the wake of post-tropical storm Fiona. Our thoughts are with our alumni and the communities impacted. We hope this month’s activities and updates bring you joy and distraction, during what we know is still a difficult time for many. Learn about September's book bundle winner, NSCC’s Open House and how to nominate an alumni business for Shop NSCC. October is also a time of learning and reflection as we recognize Mi’kmaq History Month.
October is Mi’kmaq History Month, beginning with Treaty Day on October 1 to honour the relationship and important contributions of the Mi’kmaq people in Nova Scotia. NSCC recognizes the land upon which we work, live and learn is the unceded territory and traditional ancestral homeland of the Mi’kmaq Nation, and our relationship is based on a series of sacred Peace and Friendship Treaties. In Nova Scotia, we are all Treaty People. Learn more about Mi'kmaq History Month – Wi'kipatmu'k Mi'kmawey – Honoring of the Mi'kmaw way.
