NSCC credentials translated into Mi’kmaw
Launched at the 2023 spring convocation, NSCC now offers Mi’kmaq and Indigenous graduating students and alumni the option to have their credential in the Mi’kmaw language.
“Last summer, the province legislated Mi'kmaw as the official first language of Nova Scotia. This initiative is an option for our graduates that reflects the legislation and the College’s commitment to reconciliation.”
- Denise DiGiosia, NSCC Mi’kmaq and Indigenous Initiatives Senior Advisor
How it works
Prior to convocation, graduating students complete an Intent to Graduate Form where Mi’kmaq and Indigenous community members may select the option to receive their credentials in Mi’kmaw.
Mi’kmaq and Indigenous alumni can request to have their current NSCC credentials translated into the Mi’kmaw language through our Document Request Form. As part of NSCC Alumni Relations’ commitment towards reconciliation and inclusion, we’re sponsoring the $25 reprint fee.
