We're wrapping up two weeks of convocation ceremonies at our 14 campuses across the province and are pleased to welcome over 4,000 new graduates into our alumni community. Know someone who graduated? Feeling nostalgic? Watch the inspiring valedictorian speeches and convocation recordings online.

Today, June 21, marks National Indigenous Peoples Day which takes place on the summer solstice. June is also National Indigenous History Month. It’s a special occasion to recognize and celebrate Indigenous culture, history, and the outstanding achievements of First Nation, Inuit and Métis people. Spend time engaging in meaningful education, including the 94 Calls to Action in the Truth and Reconciliation Report. To celebrate and support your continued learning, we’re holding a Book Bundle Giveaway for National Indigenous History Month later this week on Facebook! Ryan Massiah (ALP ’04 & Business Administration ’06) left Barbados to pursue new opportunities in Canada when he was 20. Today, Ryan’s the CEO of a board-governed, multi-stream organization called Massiah Enterprises, which includes five distinct branches dedicated to commercial cleaning, climate and energy activities, philanthropy, education and agriculture. The board is comprised entirely of NSCC alumni. One of his company’s projects is to build a not-for-profit school in his home community of St. Matthias, Barbados, in cooperation with the United Nations. To learn more, read Ryan’s story.

Alumni are an important part of the NSCC community, and you show your support in countless ways. This past year, we invited you to celebrate NSCC’s 25th anniversary by supporting the NSCC 25th Anniversary Fund. All funds raised support the Rapid Response program, created to meet the shifting needs of students when they need it most. Our goal was to raise $25,000 for 25 years and with your help, we surpassed our goal, with a total of $27,102. We are beyond proud of our alumni community – thank you for your generosity!
