Join your NSCC community at a Pride Parade

As we embrace the vibrant spirit of Pride Month, it’s important to acknowledge the journey of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and the struggles and triumphs facing this community.

Discriminatory legislation, acts of violence and systemic inequalities continue to impact the lives of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals both locally and worldwide. These realities serve as a stark reminder that our work towards building a more inclusive and equitable environment is far from over. We must stand as allies against the growing hostilities the 2SLGBTQ+ community continues to face.

As a College, we’re committed to creating and sustaining an environment where everyone is safe, valued and included. Inclusion is everyone’s responsibility. There is no room for hate or bigotry at NSCC and we will continually strive to demonstrate this commitment. By championing inclusion, we help build a community where everyone is accepted, respected and valued for who they truly are.

Attend a Pride parade

Celebrate Pride Month with NSCC by attending or participating in pride parades across the province. Pride parades are a time to come together as a community to celebrate and advocate for genuine inclusion. Students, employees and alumni are encouraged to join the College at a Pride parade near you to show your support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

  • We encourage you to bring umbrellas, hats and other fun accessories that promotes Pride and inclusivity

Champion the Progress Pride flag

Our campuses are proudly flying the Progress Pride flag. This flag was created in 2018 to represent a more inclusive 2SLGBTQ+ community, acknowledging the diversity and intersectionality within the community.

Share your input: Government of Nova Scotia’s 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan

The Government of Nova Scotia’s Office of Equity and Anti-Racism is hosting public engagement sessions throughout June in support of the Province’s commitment to develop an action plan to address the needs and concerns of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Input from these community-led sessions and online survey will inform the plan and will help identify actions to address needs. Nova Scotians are invited to engage in this survey until July 31.
